A coalition of numerous civic and community groups, including the MDGP, is working on informing and improving the local electoral process to reverse the disenfranchisement resulting from so manynegative experiences at the polls in rfecent elections. Community Leaders Testify Before Dade Elections
Commission To Address Countywide Voting Reforms

MIAMI - In hopes of remedying local voting problems before the November election, members of the Miami-Dade Election Reform Coalition will join top county officials, disenfranchised voters and poll workers in providing testimony Monday before the Miami-Dade County Commission’s Election Oversight Task Force.

The hearing will be at 3 p.m. Monday, September 30 in Miami-Dade County Commission Chambers, 111 NW First Street, Second Floor.

Members of the non-partisan coalition, which include representatives from the NAACP Miami-Dade Chapter, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), ACORN and the Miami Workers Center, will outline solutions to reform Miami-Dade’s electoral process. In addition, voters who encountered problems during the Sept. 10 primary election will have the opportunity to testify. Several top county officials also are scheduled to give sworn statements before the commission.

Voters who experienced problems during the September primary election are encouraged to attend.

Who: Voters, county officials and representatives of local community groups including the Miami-Dade Chapter NAACP, the ACLU, Save Dade, ACORN and the Miami Workers Center.
